Biogas upgrading equipment (biogas upgrader) is a facility that is used to concentrate the methane in biogas to natural gas standards. The system removes carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, water and contaminants from the biogas.
The solution is the use of biogas upgrading or purification processes whereby contaminants in the raw biogas stream are absorbed or scrubbed, leaving more methane per unit volume of gas. There are four main methods of upgrading: water washing, pressure swing adsorption, selexol adsorbtion, and amine gas treating.
Revenue and corresponding costs from upgrader projects is recognized using the stage of completion method. Under the stage of completion method, contract revenues and expenses are recognized by reference to the stage of completion of contract activity where the outcome of the construction contract can be measured reliably, otherwise revenue is recognized only to the extent of recoverable contract costs incurred. A typical upgrader project has five to eight milestones and duration of nine to eighteen months, and therefore operating results can fluctuate significantly as a result of the timing of contract related work.
